RotoZip vs Dremmel

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

I too have a Roto-Zip. I picked it up to put holes in sheetrock for outlet boxes. I used a 6" pc of plywood on the floor to guide a cut around the room next to the floor to open the wall for running wire, worked great. I just had to put the 6" pc of sheetrock back up and mud one joint. I then made a template out of plywood that stood on the floor and gave me an opening to run the Roto-Zip inside of to cut the outlet openings. The tool is good for what I bought it for. Try that with a router and the sheetrock dust will kill it. Having said that, I would not use the tool for anything else. The bearings are cheap and the accuracy would be poor IMO. Better off to buy a small router (or laminate trimmer).
