Question on Cabinets

Postby Classic Finn » Sun Jul 08, 2007 10:32 am

Just wondering if there is a specific "Normal" depth used on the back interior cabinets? Or is that a matter of preference really?

Finn....whatever works and will fit what you want to store. Just make sure you have allowed enough "knee" room under the cabinets. I've done mine between 14 and 17" on the different trailers. Doug

To get the depth for my inside cabinets I first bought some boxes for our shoes and then made the cabinets fit the boxes. I will take pictures latter today.

These are the plastic boxes I bought to put shoes in at night. Then I made the cabinets to fit the boxes.

A shelf will go above the box and I still need to make the doors.

Heikki,
I decided mine by putting paper across the back area & sitting in the teardrop. By doing that I made mine a little shallower & shorter than what I had originally thought. When I first put the paper up I just had the feeling the cabinets were too close to me when sitting in there. By backing the paper up a couple of inches, it felt much better. Obliviously the bigger you can make them the more can be stored, but making sure there is enough knee & interior space too. I like the paper idea because then you can figure out what works for you.
