There are a few of the Generic Benroy's built and being built. Look through the albums of those builds for tips and techniques.

Look for MaryK, Cablerunner, myself and others.

Kuffle Creek plans

Postby Kstear » Thu Aug 16, 2007 11:35 am

I purchased the plans for the 10' long comet and found them useful as a place to start. However, I found an error in the coordinates for the ellipse and sent Kevin Howser an e-mail making him aware of the problem. Not sure if the coordinate has been corrected on subsequent printings...

ok just my 2 cents. i bought the cubby plans. built them just like the plans say. followed them to a "T" except for a few slight modifications to the gally. the build went very easy and it all fit toghether like it was supposed to. me personally i had never built anything, had all the tools just never did anything with them. so for a first timer they are great. i found them very usefull.

Okay...

Did you notice that within the first few pages, they tell you to cut 90 degree angle scraps of ply, that you'll need them to help you plumb your walls?

Totally ignoring the fact that after you cut your walls, you'll HAVE these pieces that you need to help plumb the walls?

For a beginner, instructions like this will kill you. And I don't even want to get into what they tell you to do to modify the folding HF frame, if that's what you're building on.

I also had a problem with the bible lesson at the very end, but that's a different story.
Here we go again!

Kuffel Creek

Postby Rebel » Sat Aug 18, 2007 9:43 pm

I bought both sets of plans (Comet and Cubby) and altho I have not built either one, I have read and reread the plans for the info there. It is excellent. I consider them a reference, along with Dave's Squidget, and the fantastic Puffin!

No set of plans are perfect, but these are very valuable to the novice as well as the guy or gal who has built before. Supplemented with this forum, they complement each other.

If I like something in any of these plans, it can become a part of my personalized plan that will evenually get done. Thank you Kevin, Mike, Dave, Steve, and many more of you who share your ideas. :)
