A/C IN WINDOW

Postby pblichfeldt » Mon Sep 17, 2007 2:28 pm

I measured the window on my TD and found a 5200 BTU window unit on Walmart.com site that will fit. I have not gone the next step and removed the window assembley on TD.
I guess that is next step. If I can remove and put back without damage to TD I will order A/C. I envision that I will mount the A/C unit so weight is distributed evenly inside and outside window frame. No remote with this unit but not needed, just reach over and adjust.
I just might be making some progress in the near future.javascript:emoticon('')

Sorry, no pic's. One it does not rattle and two , mounted to the board and the unit resting on the sill the velcro holds it solid and the air ran for 4 days nonstop on three fishing trips.

Make sure that the hole cut in the piece of plywood for the air unit fits tight arround the unit. Our unit had the side extenders which we did not install. We only installed the top and bottom (both on our unit - some only have top) bars which were fastned to the inside of the plywood.

We have removed the window carefully (not to damage screws) 8 times in the past two years. We also got extra mounting screws just in case - stainles.

The wimdow is of the type that installs - each half is installed from it's side with a compression rubber gasket and glass portion on the outside and mounting ring on the inside. The screws pull it together tightening down on the gasket. Like I said before, a five minute install. Practice at home first.
