...in our shop we have 20' table built along one wall with a radial arm saw mounted in it and a compound miter(removable) saw. the radial gets used for cross-cutting almost everything(more accurate and easier to index to) and the miter saw gets used for...well miters. A sliding compund is great but you have to keep a close check on it, as it is a little trickier to set-up and maintain its accuracy
