Aluminum sheet supplier near Charleston WV

Postby Ralf » Thu Nov 29, 2007 4:51 pm

I'm building a modified Benroy out of 3/4 inch mahogeny ply in 5x10 sheets. Trailer built, oak floor installed , plywood sides cut, epoxied and installed, spars installed and ceiling installed. I'm considering an aluminum over epoxy sealed masonite roof. I have been searching w/o success for an aluminum supplier for 60 inch sheets. Any suggestions in the tristate area (WV, Kentucky, Ohio, Within 100 miles or so of Charleston WV) I live in Fayetteville WV so I'm within an hour of Bluefield VA and Route 460 into western Va as well.
Fayetteville West Virginia, at the rim of the New River Gorge National River. Whitewater, mountain biking, rock climbing. One of BUDGET MAGAZINE'S TOP TEN COOLIST SMALL TOWNS IN AMERICA. Fetured in National Geographic Adventure Magazine., Noah Adams' (NPR) book,"Follow the River". Neww River George Bridge, 876 foot tall single arch. On Bridge Day sky divers jump from the bridge and live, most of the time.

sheet aluminum

Postby eamarquardt » Thu Nov 29, 2007 6:22 pm

I searched a lot too and finally found Copper and Brass Sales. Here is their website:

http://www.copperandbrass.com/cnb/about ... /index.htm

I went and picked up my aluminum in Los Angeles. It was extreemly well packaged on a wooden pallet and the edges were all protected by heavy cardboard.

A watchout though, they have price breaks as your order grows larger in terms of weight. I think one of the break points is #100, so I was able to buy 5 sheets of 60X144X.040 for less than the price of 4 sheets (I paid $85 a sheet in 11/06).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Gus
