I’ve reached the point in my frame build where I need to order my Flexride half-axles and am trying to make sure I order the right weight.
My teardrop will be an 11’ long, 5’ 2” wide Modernistic with a bolt-together frame based on the one Jerome posted photos of last year and I think just used for a 9,000 mile trip.
Using a spreadsheet that analyzed the weights for each 2” wide section of the teardrop (Hey, I am a first born and therefore anal about these types of things) my calculated weights are:
Frame: 350 lbs.
(Towable with 4 corner mounted leveling jacks, a spare under the galley and the tongue jack)
Completed empty Teardrop - 1200 lbs.
Loaded for Camping - 1550 lbs
(Includes 120 lbs battery; 60 lbs water; 40 lbs cooler; 30 lbs food; 45 lbs bedding; 30 lbs clothes).
With the wheels at 51” from the back of the Tear I calculated 180 lbs Tongue weight empty and 165 lbs Tongue weight when loaded for camping.
Based on these results I think I need to buy the 2000 lb. Flexride half axles.
Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.
Madjack I’ll be posting photos shortly.
