We have a gathering on the weekend of December 7th at Lake Ray Roberts, North of Dallas by about 50 miles.

Now, being North Texas, the temperature could be anywhere from zero to 85 degrees. It could start at 85 on Friday, and drop to 25 on Saturday. I may need a heater, or I may need my air-conditioner.

So, yes, I do winter camp. But, I really can't tell you in advance whether or not I camp in below 20-degree weather.

Hey Coop, Yea I knew about them but that's OK since the link could help someone else on this site. As far as I know they don't have a store front. I had a friend that bought a lowering Ice House trailer and built a super nice Ice House, Camper, and Hunting Cabin combination trailer. He got a bunch of his stuff from them. He thinks I'm crazy building a small trailer like the teardrop but I don't want to spend $6000 building mine like he did.

Coldest I've camped was 16 below. A bunch of us put a layer of straw on top of the snow, a sleeping pad on top of that, then a good sleeping bag. Of course that was many years ago and I was much younger and dumber. It really wasn't bad though except for the guys that didn't put their boots in their sleeping bags with them. Sleeping in a TD at any temperature should not be a problem. I have a little electric ceramic heater that would make it more than comfortable.

I camped in the mountains of Virginia last winter. But we had an electric site, so the ceramic heater kept us plenty warm.

I think we were the only camper on the campground, and the water was turned off, so the owner brought us a few bottles of water! but it was fun!

Going out camping this Friday 12/22/07 I hope it gets good and cold. I want to see how well my heater works! :D
