Thank you Aunti M
I hadn't plan to take it, but I just might , to Scott's (jst83) winter camp-out in January. It has come along faster than I thought it might due to my work slow down. Aren't you supposed to take them out on the initial voyage even if they aren't finished? :worship: I couldn't have done it without all the help from this forum!

Dave
I was thinking automotive, but my wood working store had a sale on spar varnish and I couldn't pass it up. I'm going to try and spray it on. :worship:

Spar is always a good bet...I've vaguely heard of poeple spraying it but something in the back of my mind keeps saying that it wasn't the easiest to do. Steve F. uses a spar poly (Helmsman, I think) out of a gun and reports good durability, UV, and ease application. If I ever get that far, I think I will try the auto clear for a couple reasons...I've never shot it and thought it might be a kick, and I've had this kayak site bookmarked for several years that inspires me to try to do it Toquanatch Creek Kayaks

One thing about spar...it's a proven commodity. And people who know how to use it sure get good results!!!

I'm gonna go with auto clearcoat for the simple fact that everytime I turn around... I'm reading one of Roly's posts about sanding and varnishing.

I am planning on a luggage rack, but carrying the canoe wouldn't allow the hatch to open (its 17 1/2 ft long). I can always carry the canoe on the truck rack and set it beside the tear at the camp site.

True enough, I started to say you could take it off the top when you got to your destination but there's no way you can get from point A to point B without opening the galley to show it off.
