Let me know when you start, I'll be more then happy to help with the liquid removal step of the project.

Cool idea, I once covered a fridge and coffee table with Beck`s bottle tops, took about a year for 20 of us rather drunk soldiers to get the caps,Hic

the turning green, or natural patina, of the copper would actually be kinda neat. some people actually prefer it to new copper. also, once a patina layer forms it protects the copper underneath, unlike rust which would just keep corroding.

Ditto. A woody with a copper roof, after some time, would like really nice, IMO.

One Saturday night at a SouthCentral gathering is all the time you would need to gather enough to cover a tear.

Copper

Postby kayaklover » Tue Jan 29, 2008 11:23 pm

I'm doing my galley in copper. I bought a hammered copper bar sink online and I'm using copper flashing for the countertop. I hope to have a good start on it by CNTL2. :applause: :applause: :applause:

Driving down the road ,you notice that lone beer can sitting in the verge ... you know if nobody moves it it will be there for at least a thousand years.... :o Imagine how long a similar TD roof would last ...???
cutting a can produces a nice 4.5"X8" piece of alum (scale).. could be stapled on (coated staples) over some roofing felt paper... never leak ...
One night with the Band over and we'd have enough material to cover the Superdome...

you can get corrogated copper from old hot water cylinders, just go around demolition sites and you can buy them fairly cheap as the recycling payout is actually pretty low, the metal guys obviously dont pay out anything like what its really worth.

you can get piping from the same places, altho you may find somebody is already doing this, might even have a contract, so look for the smaller private ones.

assuming america is anything like here... all of our plumbing used to be copper, and some of it still is.

i used to install copper solar panels with copper pipes just a couple years ago.

in fact, the idea came to me yesterday, how about a solar panel (hot water) built into the roof of the tear? mind you i sposse the cost of heating water to drink and cook etc is pretty low for the requirements of a camper.
