If it were mine I would install the original shackles, and put in the blocks, not cutting holes in that beautiful trailer. You should be able to buy those from the same place one would buy springs, longer U bolts will be required.

Just a quick sketch - Is this what you are suggesting?

I would run the longer pieces longitudely to get more surface area across the trailer frame cross pieces. of course the top facing would cover over the wheel cutouts and provide a level floor. Should work - you'll lose a few inches insde

I like the block Idea also. Don't cut in to your baby...She could bleed out!

I wanted the trailer deck as low as possible so
I chose to let the wheels and stockfenders on the HF
axle protrude thru the floor.
I was going to be content to leave the little 2 1/4" humps
under the mattress. Mid build I changed my mind.

I left the 1 1/2" 2x2 curb and added 2 layers of 3/4
foam covering the entire floor then sheeted over with
7/16 osb. Rattle can truckbed liner was applied to
weatherproof the underside. We never missed the
2 inchs and benefitted by gaining a well insulated floor.
Came in real handy in January at -1 F.
Growing older but not up !
