Planning for future mods

Postby calumet » Tue Jun 17, 2008 12:38 pm

I’m doing a realy quick construct of the generic Benroy for immediate use and will add on later. Just solid walls, shelves, AC plugged directly to extension cord, and mattress. My main concern is electric. I am assuming I should go ahead and pull wires through the roof for vent fan, dome light and maybe two reading lights. Since the walls will not be insulated right now, then wiring there can be added later.
I am guessing that the electrical raceway box per the Benroy plans needs to go in with the bulkhead and shelves.
Are there any other considerations before attaching walls or ceiling that can’t be accessed later?

Possible add-ons would be a small furnace, floor vent with fan, limited cabinetry, etc.

Is there anything that want fit in the door or in the door then between the walls after walls and roof are together. Is insulating and paneling afterwards a common practice?

8) Depends on the type of mattress you buy. If you use an innerspring then you might want to put it in before the close up.

Great suggestion! I am glad you didn’t assume that this would be obvious to everyone cause I hadn’t thought of it!
Thank you as well for your replies and suggestions in all the other posts; specially “What needs to be done NOW”. I felt the same way, but, …I’m new here.
