Weather stripping the doors???

Postby benzu » Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:51 am

Sorry for the new post but my last thread about weather stripping got pulled away from the main question, so I wanted to post a new one to get a faster response from you all.

So here's the issue, I bought some 1/8" - 3/16'' weather stripping (WS) for the doors yesterday and put it on on one of the doors. Before the WS was even applied the door shut real flush with the wall, but now it pinches tight near the hinge createing a huge gap near the open side corners. :x :x I'll supply pictures later.

I was thinking of going out and buying 1/16'' - 1/8'' WS taking off the bigger stuff where it's loose and replacing it with the 1/16'' WS, whats another $6.00. Does anyone else have any ideas.

Everytime I think I'm close something else pops up to set me back.

Thanks,

Mike

I had the same problem with my doors. What worked for me was using thinner weather stripping. Another option would be to shim the tear side of the hinge, that will give you more of a gap between the door and side of the trailer. The shimming option wont work with all hinges though.

It looks like you have the same style of hinges that I do so the shimming might work, I'll try the thinner WS first.
