Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Al, MHO is that those are not thick enough. Now I am a coward but you need something thicker. Now if those are thicker than they look then ignore me and GitRdun.

Mine is bolted from the bottom using bolts and T-nuts on top. Being the chicken that I am I think I might sneak some plumbers straps in the middle.

1) I have seen many of you paint the bottom with roofing emulsion. Would I only paint this up even with the rim, since I will be attaching the walls to the exposed part?

Yep you got it. Where you will put glue you don't want anything else. You do want to seal everything else you can get to. Just tape off the parts you will be gluing.

Bolting question

Postby Alfred » Thu Aug 28, 2008 11:28 pm

Dear Aunt M and others,

OK, so I went to Home Depot today, and they have the 3/8 inch bolts in all lengths. Assuming I use these, do I drill a 3/8 hole through all 3" of the 2x4 (through the wider side) and through the steel trailer? Will this weaken the integrity of the 2x4 frame? How many do I use? Also, do I attach the 1/2 inch floor then countersink for the bolts (I am thinking I will need to go a good ways into the 1/2" ply to allow the bolt to clear(?) I know these are dumb questions, but I never built anything like this before!

Thanks,

Al in Asheville
