Windows

I am somewhat claustrophobic, so I want extra windows on my build. I'm building a trailer similar to the Stewart Family Weekender. I plan on two crank out windows, one at the foot and one at the head of the bed. The doors will hopefully get some sort of sliding window. For the front and back of the trailer, I was thinking a fixed plexiglass window. About 10x 48 inches. I would notch my supports to let the glass sit flush with the supports and then overlap the plexi with the exterior plywood and seal it up with caulking. Then I would put a hinged cover that can be lifted to make an awning. I know plexiglass tends to scratch easy and I've heard it cracks easy as well. I've heard lexan is better for not scratching or breaking, and better for cold environments. Any ideas or concerns?

Also, where is a good source for crank out windows? I checked eBay.

never mind, I just checked craigslist. Found 1 each 21x11 solid front window, 2 each 17x8 and 41x15 crank outs and a 68x24 door with screen door for $100. I don't think I could get the lexan for less than $75. The door, I'll save for my tiny house on wheels build.

Most of the RV repair people I talked to have suggested that I not put a front window due to heightened chance of a leak. If you look at the newer
commercial RV's you don't see very many with a front window. Just a thought.

Hi Myke,
Can't say enough about front windows, especially if they can be opened. Love mine because of the added breeze and circulation I get.
