Big Rig cab lights

Postby Ralf » Fri Apr 10, 2009 1:09 am

I just saw some of these at a car show flea market. They are 12 to 14 inches long, chrome and have pointed amber or red bullet lenses. The cylinder tapers flat on one side for mounting. They will really give the Buck Rogers rocket look. Look at a large truck stop
Fayetteville West Virginia, at the rim of the New River Gorge National River. Whitewater, mountain biking, rock climbing. One of BUDGET MAGAZINE'S TOP TEN COOLIST SMALL TOWNS IN AMERICA. Fetured in National Geographic Adventure Magazine., Noah Adams' (NPR) book,"Follow the River". Neww River George Bridge, 876 foot tall single arch. On Bridge Day sky divers jump from the bridge and live, most of the time.

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

Man it's scary how this group thinks alike! Yesterday I was just pondering using these lights, just as you described, for the rear 3 marker lights on top of my tear. The problem is that I cannot find red lenses for them. They are Grote 45993 also made by Truck-Lite and are 15" long and 3-1/2" wide! Perfect for my trailer, but generally quite large:

They make a transparent paint that you could use to paint the amber lenses red.

You guys may want to check out the Tail Light King at www.taillightking.com He may have red lenses for that light. Or you may want to adapt the 59 caddy lens. it has a 3 inch base.

Here is a link to painting amber lenses red:
Painting Lenses

I just have to go to my local hobby shop for Testor's Red paint. And, I've found these lights for $20.09 each! My local truck place wants $60 each.

won't be the most economical source but try a Love's store (truckstop chain) or a Rip Griffin's.
