...you'll be AMAZED at the difference...I was in the same boat as you as far as experience goes and found using the epoxy Vs. the polyester was a walk in the park...follow the mixing ratios as directed and you should have no problems :thumbsup:

When I trimmed my Woody I epoxied the trim onto the bare wood...I lie.. I had put CPES on it first,and used epoxy to glue the trim on. Where I messed up is not using CPES on the trim afterwords. I then epoxied and varnished the sides, but after a short time The varnish started to peel away from the trim, and I ended up painting the trim to cover the black stains. I now realize that if I had used cpes on the trim before I varnished, I wouldn't have had that problem.

To Recap.....CPES the sides
CPES the trim
Glue trim on with epoxy (and screws ..I removed the screws when dry)filled holes with plugs.
Epoxy entire trailer
Varnish or clearcoat over epoxy....
The reason to use CPES is that it soaks into the wood, and just doesn't sit on top......

Micro so you used CPES as a sealer on the whole trailer,both sides of the trim, sides and top then Raka over that then UV varnish over that?
You used screws to "clamp" trim then removed them and plugged the holes? Filling them with epoxy?
I really thank you guys for the information.
If you dont have time to do right the first time you sure dont have time to do it twice

I used CPES on the sides, didn't think of using it on the trim when I installed it. I used epoxy to glue the trim to the sides, and screwed it on. When dry, I rmoved the screws, and filled the holes with wooden plugs, sanded it down, and then epoxyed the whole works.....about 5 coats. After I epoxied the sides, trim, and roof, I covered that with 4 or 5 coats of varnish. I Wish I had used CPES on the trim, because after a few months uncovered the varnish and epoxy lifted on the trim and it started to turn black from moisture...(Polplar). I couldn't sand it all out, so I ended up painting the trim with Marine two part epoxy paint. If I had used CPES on the trim as I was building, I don't think that would have happened..... :roll:

I guess I build "on the cheap" so all of those sealers are a bit foreign to me. I have always felt that 2 pieces of tightly glued wooden members are as strong or stronger than the wood itself. All of the wooden trim pieces on my trailer are glued with tight-bond II, clamped and screwed in place. That was about 6 years ago and I can find no places where there is any separation or invasion of moisture between the glued joints. Spar varnish seems to keep things watertight, but my rig is rarely out in the rain, and is protected by a 12 ft carport to keep it out of the sun. See, I told you it was cheap, but it works for me.
