Done with the floor - finally!

It took a long time but here is the result:

Based on previous questions posted here about what folks would do differently if building again, I added plenty of storage. On to the walls!

Here is the floor build page should you wish to relive the adventure:

Sam has guts--like Tom:

I could never understand installing the floor vinyl at this stage, with all of the other building/cursing/dropping of tools, nails and beer bottles that will ultimately come in the weeks ahead.

Okay, so maybe Sam doesn't drink. He can still drop SODA bottles.

I gotta tell you one thing--unbelievable job on underfloor storage.

Guts--or stupidity, it remains to be seen. I do plan on covering the vinyl with some heavy cardboard to protect it for the rest of the build. But too late! I opened one of the middle doors and let it drop forgetting that the finger pull would stay up and wham! - a nice divot in the vinyl in the other middle door. Let this be a lesson to you. The front and rear doors will never open flat once I get the bulkhead and front closet installed but the middle doors will. I'll normally have the mattress in place and not open these doors completely. Live and learn.

Installing that floor when I did was a mistake. Although, my photos don't show it, I had a lot of glue 'n' stuff drip on it. I've got a big bottle of Goo B'Gone and plan to clean it up as best I can when I finally finish my build. I figue, whatever I can't remove will be hidden beneath the matress.

I got storage envy!!! That is a great idea

Good luck if you ever cross the border into Mexico or Canada, those guys with the mirrors on a stick will love to see those "hidden" compartments. Can you say "cavity search"?

Where else would you hide a Wookie, 2 Jedis, and a pilot?
