Trailer Welding Help

My axle should be in shortly and I would like to get after the frame. Does anyone have a sense on cost for having a custom trailer welded up...as opposed to cutting and welding myself? I'm looking at a 5x10 bare frame, but would probably have to buy some tools and set up a jig to do it right...Cheaper is greater...Thanks...Juneaudave

I'm in Portland, OR. My frame was $500 for the frame materials, welding, TorsionFlex axle, coupler, safety chain, painting and clearance lights. The tires & wheels were extra. This was the low bid, the others were $600 or more.
If I remember correctly, that was about the going rate from some earlier posts on this site.

I had mine professionally made. Frame, wheels, trailor tires, chains, coupler, all of the steel, 3500# axle with leaf springs and electric brakes. I found a welder that builds things for the army. He did a great job for $650. I can weld but not like him. The only things that I changed were the tires to passenger tires (smoother ride, cost less) and I removed one of the four leafs on both side. Well worth it.

I Have got to say that welding is superb, in the bottom picture the uniform width of the weld and perfect pool slide.

In the top picture on the right hand side were you can see the first right angle cross over, on the top you can see four uniform curved dips, this shows fantastatic penetration, superb strong Joints.
