Thinking about useing this edge seal vinyl that mcmaster-carr sells (page 3710 bottom of page # 7 3/4 seal . Im thinking of useing it on door jamb/frame and also on door , all the way around both and in some oval cabinets edges im making this stuff looks like it will seal rough edge on plywood sides . what is everybody thought on this any body used it before

That stuff might dress an edge, but I don't think you will get an effective rain seal with it. Just my opinion; no experience here except that I am having a hard time finding anything that works well to seal a door. Open to suggestions.

yes i wanted it to mainly dress and edge but thought it might be good stuff dont you think silacone first then the seal on top of that will be good you no browsing the M-C catalog i ve seen the seal with many styles and weather stripping attached to it i just wonder if it is good stuff

Well, how is your door built? ... trimmed? ... and hinged? I can think of a couple of ways ... ...

Grant - I feel like I'm hijacking the thread, but...
My doors are 1-1/8 inch thick solid birch ply, hung on piano hinge. Stops are 2-1/2 x 3/4 maple, extending 1/2 inch inside the opening, rabbeted 1/4 deep x 3/8 wide for a seal. I started with 3/8 x 3/8 D seal, which sprung the door top and bottom. Found some 3/8 x 5/16 D seal, which didn't seal well and fell off the next day. I am going to try some "fire seal" from McMaster. It's tear shaped and very flimsy, but might work on the edge of the frame. If that doesn't work I'll put a filler strip in the rabbets and use the nail on AL+rubber door seal from the box store. I'm sure it will work, but I don't like the look.
