I believe you are talking about a bevel cut rather than a taper cut.

With my curved profile, I need to have a bevel at the front and rear of my floor. Instead of cutting the bevels before assembly, I put together my sandwich floor and cut the bevels after assembled with a circular saw. In the picture below, you can see the wood (mdf) straight edge that I used to guide my circular saw to make the bevel cut.

Of course, you don't want to cut through any fasteners. (My floor is constructed with glued joints.)

Yes, that's correct, I did mean bevel cuts only I am building the weekender and the braces have bevel cuts. I did find a table saw at Lowe's with a stand included for $114.99. That's a cheap price to pay, for me, to be able to cut bevels in 2x2s and 2x4s and rip. I will still use my circular saw for large cuts in ply. This table saw will come in handy when I start my cabinets, which I mainly wanted a table saw for.
