Door Sill Height Question

Postby Roberto » Fri Nov 18, 2005 9:09 pm

Is there a generally accepted "height" to make the door sill.
In other words; how high should the wall be, above the floor, which meets the bottom of the door.
I've read posts where poeple warn of the wall cutting into the back of your legs while sitting on the matress with your feet hanging outside.

thanks,
Bob

you are right Roberto...a generally used rule of thumb is half the height of the mattress...however, this, as all things are left up to the builder and sometimes design consideration may call for something else...on our tear the sill is 2 inches off the floor

I typically split the difference... of the mattress that is... just like Madjack said...

With a good 4" mattress in your teardrop, if you have your door edge a couple inches below that, you are not going to cut off the circulation in your legs.

Mike...

Not to be confused with actually cutting your legs. More like cutting off the circulation if you sat there for a few minutes.
