BigAl, it was interesting to see what your idea, would a window styled like that butterfly vent be hard to clean(?)

what i envisioned was something like this. this is my first real sketchup drawing (beyond loony extruded boxes) please be easy on me.

i couldn't get it right...
it's supposed to be:
two panes separated by a ring, all sandwiched together in the frame.
the panes and the ring all float on each other and pivot around the center point. the panes are slightly larger than half a circle.

i drew it on the floor. :?

edit
i'm getting better!

and i got another idea...

am i scaring people?

think of an embroidery ring,
how it pulls a surface taut. ok, put a screen in there.
now lay one of the panes on top of the screen
and the other pane on the other face of the screen.
now set the whole thing in a frame.

window glass in closed position

Thanks for that catalog link coop. It's a veritable Aladdins Cave. :)

Conestoga, I think your two window concepts are really cool! I would add some sort of locking mechanism, not only for security but so the windows didn't vibrate open when being trailed.

Why not fix one of the panes and only have one move?

I really like that your windows open without compromising space inside the trailer or sticking out from the side profile.
Kind Regards, BigAl.

round plexiglass acrylic windows

Postby Conestoga » Mon Mar 15, 2010 5:34 pm

SCORE!
it looks like SlyTerry has already implemented a version of my idea.
(is this what y'all were referring to and trying to find?)

Image

i dug it out of Terry's album, via this topic: round windows
http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=28833

here's his post
"The windows in the at Tadpole Trailers are made of 1/8" Lexan and weight six pounds a side at 24" in diameter. They open, have screens and don't leak. If anyone wants drawings on specs how to build them let me know and I will email a you a PDF file. Works well on 3/4" plywood doors up to 2 feet if you want... Only cost the price of a 4x4 sheet of lexan or plexi.. "

Anybody have that PDF?

SlyTerry has not posted for quite a while.
Does anybody know if he's still reading the forum (and would answer a PM? )
