help finding laminate sources

Postby Slim and Gabby » Fri Mar 19, 2010 9:37 pm

Just got our first trailer-looking to replace painted over countertops and make a new table. Saw lots of great vintage laminate designs online. All at wholesalers.

Anybody know of a great source for purchasing laminate like formica, arpa, wilsonart, etc.?

Your local "Big Box" home center will have a few basic varieties in-stock, but can order many others also.

Look for a local Hardware/Lumberyard or a Home Design type center. They will have access to many different varieties, including the "vintage" patterns that are coming back into style.

look in you yellow pages for "millwork" or "custom millwork". these are basically cabinet makers who do tons of 'one of's' for stores and offices. they ALWAYS have ton of left overs and are happy to sell it to you for cheap. not just your generic 'kitchen counter' stuff either, lots of really wild stuff and metals as well.

Slim and Gabby:

If you have a Lowes nearby, they have a wonderful showroom with lots of samples to look at. It's hidden back near the center of the cabinet displays. They will order anything that they have samples for. They also have a section with ready made counter tops and a section with a few different types of the less expensive laminate sheets, ready for purchase.

Good luck on your trailer.

(PS. As an off-side, I've just started using Teff <GF> flour. You might like it. It has a unique and tasty flavor. Bob's Red Mill and Teff & Co. both sell it and have recipes for it.)

The custom kitchen sections of Lowe's and Home Depot stores have large selections of laminate you can order by the sheet.

Any custom cabinet shop or counter top shop will order you laminate. Plus they may carry some of the lesser known brands. But better yet is they usually have lots of cut offs or smaller pieces they will sell cheap.
