I need teardrop plans !!!

Postby schreimaster » Mon Nov 28, 2005 3:55 pm

I ordered plans from Desert Teardrop trailers over 3 weeks ago, have not recieved them still and its tuff to get any responce out of them. Anybody have any info on them or a contact number, so I might be able to talk to a real person. Or can anyone suggest a good set of plans to use as a base for my trailer, I'm setting on ready and can't get my plans. :(

The "Generic Building Plans" are free right here on this board. They are not 100% complete yet, but would really get you started. You can get plans from Kuffle Creek for 2 different teardrops (I have these plans and really liked them). Steve Frederick has a Shop Manual on how to build a teardrop under the 'Notices' sections

schreimaster...welcome to the board...sorry to hear of your problems with DT...I hope hou can resolve them to your satisfaction soon...
Kuffel Creek offers their plans as a downloadable PDF...their Cubby plans are very widely used by members of this board and several here, have also built their Comet...the plans are aslo available as a CD
Steve Frederick of this board who builds one off, custom tears from wood and fibergalss has just recently started offering his plans the same way...
Also for free, the Generic Benroy on this board is a good way to go...
So, as you can see Shrei, there are several alternatives for you to get started "RIGHT" away...
Any way you go, you can get lottsa help from the members of this board, just don't forget to take lots of pics to show off...cause we all luv da pics

Mrs. Dog and I ordered a set of DT and Kuffel Creek plans. The Kuffel plans give you a good step-by-step idea of how to get from opening the box with the trailer in it to how to weigh and licence the finished product.

Get the DT plans, but don't expect great insights from it. Let me know if yours doesn't arrive, I'll send you mine after I find it and get the dust off of it.

Too bad because those plans are of the classic Kit Industries teardrop profile from the 1940's and anyone wanting to build one of the great classics could use this profile. Anything missing in the plans could be be filled in at my web site. DT's plans are of the classic Kit Industries profile.

PS Shame on Phil at Desert Teardrops - anyone wanting information on this design just email me or visit my web site.

Well I took the advice offered here and ordered plans from Kuffel creek, did the download so I could get them faster  . Well I can't open them, go figure, if it wasn't for bad luck! I dropped them an e-mail, we'll see what happens this time, I do have a better feeling about it.
