floor level

Hi All
I am to the point of building the floor in my teardrop and because of the way I am building it I have a rear sill about 6" above the main cabin floor level. If any of you hace a raised hatch sill, how did you handle the floor? I think I need to raise the floor in the galley area so the slide out for the cooler won't have to be raised. But should I build a compartment on top of the floor to bring it to the hatch sill level, or step the floor and use the space under for battery and tanks??
I know, the floor is usually the first thing you build, but I rather build the fun stuff first :R
The difficult we do now... the impossible takes a little longer

...got any pics or drawings to better illustrate what you are descibing...I am working on plans for a 5'tall tear, that will have a 12' hi boxed area in the back. I will be putting water, battery, etc in this area...the hatch will close down on top of this area...
