metal siding?

Hi everyone I'm new here and I have been considering buying a teardrop, but no one seems to make exactly what I want for a reasonable price so I have been considering building one.

feel free to point me in the right direction because I am sure that this is a popular subject

1. what is the metal siding called that is on silver shadows, wee-kenders, american tear drops etc? thickness? type of metal?(for help when looking for it in my location)

2. Is there any way to get it in 5' wide pieces?

3. Can I get it pre-painted (white?)

...it is aluminum sheet usually .032 to .060 in thickness, look for it at sign shops(for painted) race car suppliers, metal suppliers and places that repair 18wheeler trailers...for mail order try www.saf.com saf will have it anodized(pricey)as well............

p.s. 4x8, 10, 12 are fairly common, 5' less so, try sign shops and trailer repair(they sell it off a roll 102"s wide) shops for 5'wide..........MJ

I got my aluminum (mill finish) from Copper and Brass Sales. They have a place in Las Vegas but will probably ship anywhere. The price was very competetive. There is a HUGE price break at 100# and it was cheaper to buy 5 sheets of 5X12 .040 5052 than four!!!!! My material was very well packed. Strapped to a pallet and all the edges were protected by heavy cardboard. Excellent service!

I've had good success using a fine tooth blade in a saber saw set to vertical (not oscillating). Keep the blade cool with water or coolant (wd40 works) to keep the aluminum from heating up and filling up the teeth on the blade.
