Formeldahyde exempt plywood

I always thought that US made plywood was manufactured in such a way as to creat formeldahyde emmissions so low it was not an issue, and labled formeldahyde exempt (read it somewhere on the net). I had a neighbor say that plywood labled as such was for out door use, and therefor not held to the same regulations as interior plywood.

Anybody know which one is true? I paid a little extra for the US made ply that was stamped formeldahyde exempt, did I mess up???

Structural wood products such as plywood and oriented strand board (OSB) are manufactured to meet stringent product standards, including Voluntary Product Standard PS 1-07 for Structural Plywood and Voluntary Product Standard PS 2, Performance Standard for Wood-Based Structural-Use Panels. Because wood products produced under these standards are designed for construction applications governed by building codes, they are manufactured only with moisture-resistant adhesives that meet Exterior or Exposure 1 bond classifications.
