Can the weekender be placed on a 5x8 trailer..I was looking at placing it on the side rails, and use the space under it as storage.

5x8 is the inside dimensions between the side/front rails.

from muy lurking around I'm sure you will hear the short answer - Yes - matter of fact the Weekender design is what I'm planning and putting it on a 5x10 to boot -- from what I've seen and heard - you can modify just about any design you would need to your designs

Better get a short step ladder !

You will be 2 1/2 feet off of the ground plus the thickness of your floor.

Kinda like stepping up on your bathroom vanity!

If you are trying for a dual purpose trailer make a slide in but cut out the side rail where the door will be. You can save it and modify it to bolt in if you want your cargo trailer back after sliding out the body.

P.S.

40 cubic feet of cargo storage is overkill unless you are also hauling a cord of fire wood.

If you are looking for ideas for under floor storage then this is how I did it. I place items that are not commonly used everyday in these areas. To gain access you can roll the mattress forward or to the rear for full access or just lift the mattress for one lift door or the other.




This is the best I have currently showing the boxes under the camper.

Thanks to all for the insight..It has given me a lot to think about. That be said, I have decided to use a boat trailer that has been setting for a while with a Boat I traded for some time ago. I am drawing a modified weekender with bunk bed set up and a queen.
