Cabin Dimensions

After browsing through the forum, I have managed to learn a few things up to and including 4’x 8’ might be too small, measure twice cut once, and this is a pretty neat place to hang out in. I didn’t learn anything new on the less filling, tastes great controversy.

With that said, what are the thoughts about a cabin size of 5’x12’?
5x12 would fit a queen-sized bunk. I would to have a little room to actually move around and perhaps have a port a potty.

How deep are most of the galley areas? We would be willing to sacrifice some galley room for a little more room inside. The uses of slide outs in the galley seem to be quite common. Do they have any drawbacks?

The size of the side panels doesn’t appear to be an issue if the correct joint making techniques and adhesives are used.

Any thoughts?

Hey RC, good luck on the build! I have a 4x 12 Td , look in my album. My bedroom/living room is 8 ft long, I have a storage comp. in the front thats 14 or 16 inches deep. ( old age ,don't remember) That leaves about 6ft 6 inches to the bulkhead , then my galley is 4 ft , I have 2 counter tops & a lot of storage underneath. Again check pics, If I had a do over I would go 5ft wide at least, mybe 6 . Oh well coulda ,shoulda,woulda! Any way Good luck!

Mine is 5x11. I have a cabinet across the front deep enought to have a porta potty in a 2' wide closet. It will (when I get cabinet doors made and hung) be sealed with weatherstrip when closed. Our heads are toward the rear (no cabinet overhead). With the length, 11', I have an 18" cabinet across the front, 6'6" of queen bed, bulkhead, and 26' deep galley. I dont have a drawing so I hope you can visulize what I'm talking about.

The only way I would even consider any kind of sewage plant in such a small place would include an exhaust fan and an air-tight door. The tear is such a small volume area that an odor of any type would ruin a good night's sleep.

My C'Tear is 6'w x 10'l x 5'h, sleeping area is 6' x 8' we have slept 4.

Galley is 2' deep x 6' wide

Plenty roomy!
