Finishing Aluminum Skin

Postby mark Holbrook » Mon May 23, 2011 11:05 pm

Hi,

Just bought the .04 AL for my sides. Getting excited about seeing the tear take shape. The side walls are almost done and they will be mounted on the trailer soon!

How do people finish their AL. I tried the site search feature but found little to help me. My AL has a few small scratches and I am thinking about sanding it with 400 paper then sealling it with clearcote. What are the standard methods???

Thanks,
Mark and the Spud Teardrop.

...there is no "standard"...your options range for doing nothing and just allowing it to age, yo sanding, to acid washing, to polishing are just some of your options...sealing with a clearcoat will also require the application of an adhesion promoter such as BullDog another option is SharkHide metal protectant which is formulated for Aluminum...waddayawannado................

p.s. a thread about sharkhide http://tnttt.com/viewto ... de&start=0
...I have come to believe that, conflict resolution, through violence, is never acceptable.....................mj
