Aluminum flashing for siding?

Postby Erik-the-red » Sat Jun 25, 2011 8:46 pm

I was thinking about using 2-foot-wide galvenized aluminum flashing for siding. I am going to build a teadrop with a 1 x 1-inch square steel tubing skeleton. Originally, I was thinking about using enclosed trailer siding (in 4 by 8-foot lengths), but I noticed on enclosed trailers that manufacturers use screws every two feet across. Aluminum flashing could be installed with the same general idea, but it comes in 50-foot rolls, so it's actually cheaper than the 4 by 8-foot sheets.

Thoughts?

You don't "galvanize" aluminium.
Do you mean galvanized steel or anodized aluminium ?

I'm talking aluminum, not steel.
