Raka UV Inhibited Epoxy System

Postby Breezy13 » Fri Jul 01, 2011 8:57 am

Hi all,

I'm new and might have made an impulsive buy. Just received my Raka UV Inhibited Epoxy System, 3 gallons worth. Was going to use this for the entire build, there isn't much info on the RAKA website and wanted to know if anyone had used this yet? I'll be covering the outside with and additional coating of varnish or other UV protective coating in addition to the UV epoxy.

I haven't contacted RAKA yet, but was hoping for anyone's hands-on experience.

Thanks in advance!

As much as possible, apply the epoxy when surfaces are laying flat. Trying to epoxy on a vertical surface is a real challenge!

I used Raka's epoxy (non-UV) and loved it. It dries fast and super clear.

Thanks for the reply Geo. Yep, plan on the sandwich wall construction, and keeping it flat while I finish the sides.

They now sell epoxy garage sealing setups at lowes and home depot and wonder how that would fare as a outside sealer? I use FRP but might switch to something like an epoxy coating for the roof if this would hold up because the garage setup is much cheaper than the few epoxy marine vendors that are out there.

Thanks, we love it! By the way, this was my first experience with epoxy, and a learning curve, but I was very happy with the RAKA. It really doesn't blush, and once I learned not to try to apply it in 30 degree weather, at least to warm it up first, things went well! Good luck with your build.
