This is the common method used by boatbuilders, expecially when screwing fasteners in to balsa or plywood cored decks. You drill a hole slightly larger in diameter than the screw. Fill it with thickened epoxy and let it harden, then re-drill your screw hole. That way, even if water infiltrates the screw hole, it doesn't make it into your plywood to cause delamination. It's a time consuming extra step, but for those of us who have had to replace soggy balsa cored decks, it's a step we wouldn't eliminate for the world.

I plan to build my teardrop much the same as I would build my boat.
