Vinyl flooring for Roof Cover

Postby MRW » Tue Aug 30, 2011 12:35 pm

Not sure about how this would work for a roofing material but has anyone tried vinyl flooring for a roof cover. Not sure how UV proof it would be but it would be waterproof and it doesn't deteriorate on a floor in sunlight so not sure why it wouldn't work for a seamless roof covering although you might have some kind of funky pattern for a roof. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated

The difference would be the amount of ozone and UV and temperature extremes i.e. we can see a 120F difference between summer and winter exclusive of sun absorption. Check on using it as an exterior covering for a porch.
There are however purpose made deck flooring e.g. http://www.duradek.com/duradek.html

Interesting idea, I was just putting some down today and thought about using it as an interior lining. The cusion flooring is quite thick and probably reasonable at insulating and keeping noise out.
It's not very impact resistant though, one stone chip could puncture it and cause a leak.
Like most things it's probably do able but something better already exsists.

Yes, one little scratch or tiny little nick and its toast.
