Using the galley

Has anybody here made a teardrop with no galley at all? That would make the construction very easy and one could make a galley unit that you wheel out of the tow vehicle. That would be pretty convienient too and then the inside of the TD is more roomy. Or how about the boxes you all make for the propane tank in front is the wheeled galley unit. Then the propane and the galley are together. Is that not more logical? I know, tear drops are emotional.

I remove my galley. It makes it easier to load and unload my stuff, and my 11 year old dog can get in and out with less effert .

Big Dan, I like your set up. Is that an SUV tent off the back? My build includes a removable galley so I can use my trailer to haul stuff too.

Yes its a 10x10 ,And I Love how easy it is to load and unload. You see my table and camp chef stove ,the 6x8 carpet. and the big cooler in the picture. I would have a heck of a time loading all that stuff through the little door of my tear. but with the galley out, everything goes in and out the back door. easy and quick. Plus with the tent on Back I have better air flow and covered standup room. Great if its raining. And getting in and out of bed is easier. I also get to decide how mutch kitchen I want to bring. Its not built in so I bring only what I need. I know the galley is one of the coolest features of a teardrop but if I built my own trailer I dout I would put a galley in it. Its just how I roll

While it seems that a 6-8 inch floor sticking out does not seem to bother most folks shins. I did not like the idea of losing that much space out of a 4'x8' floor. So here is what I did and I ended up with a lot more counter space with folding tables on the outer doors.



This picture only shows table on the right side. I have since put one on the left.

Here is a not to great pic of them both on and deployed. I usually put the coleman camp stove on the right side.



I ended up losing less than 2 inches of floor and it still left plenty of room for the stowed away tables and mechanicals for the outer door latches. Not a very elegant profile I will have to admit. A curved hatch would help.



Not for everybody but it works for me and build #2 will be similar.
