Thanks for all the info and ideas. I worked up a mock-up over the weekend and I may have it worked out. I can use a regular door knob but I have to add a small block to go under it on the inside of the door. It will still look good and it should work. As soon as I get to that point where I actually work on the door I will post pictures. I found it helps to have a door lock drill apperatice that centers the holes and has the correct hole saws. It worked great for the mock-up. So there is hope....for me anyway.
