?? Emergency window used as door ??

I picked up a 26"x32" emergency exit window off craigslist. it looks like it was meant to be mounted horizontally, I was hoping to mount it vertically does anyone know if this would cause any issues (IE: leaking)? If so can if be modified to use vertical? any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to just cut new drain holes and not have any problems. I turned a window to use in my door and cut new holes. No problems and it has been in some horribly heavy rains this summer both on the road and set up for camping without any issues. I haven't stopped up the original weep holes, but, I will and I believe it should be done as they serve no purpose and may overload the new weep holes with rain from the wrong direction.

My only concern with that idea is an emergency window is designed used rarely and might not be built as sturdy as a door designed as an entry door. Using it as a main entry door might cause it to wear out quickly. You'll have to take a careful look at it to see if it's built well enough for constant use.

A concern for me would be getting back in through that window (door?). Its design as an exit, and only has latches on the inside.

Since you already have the window to use for a door you could always add a little extra framing just in case it didn't hold up it would be easier to build another door. Or you could build a door and use the emergency window as an over sized door window if you have the space in your build. I used a fairly large window in my door and like it. I turned 62 this year and have had a lot of orthopedic problems so I don't think a door could be too big. I framed for a second door on my build and just installed a window just in case I decided later I needed a second door.

I plan on using this on my wife's side of the trailer so she can get out at night if need be, or in an emergency.
I will have a proper door on the passenger side on the teardrop.

I'll plug the weep holes and cut new ones in with a dremel

I also used a horizontal sliding window vertically, the only issue I found was the frame doesn't have enough friction to keep the window open with the glass raised to allow air in, I ended up flipping the window so it opens at the top instead of the bottom, instead of cutting slots for drainage I just drilled a hole or two to let any water out, the existing slots don't make any leaks that I can see. I did add some extra channel across the top of the window for extra rain protection. (the silver strip at the top of the window)
