Here's the design my brother came up with for me.

With a pivot built into one end, it would look quite a bit like the one above. :) Bub is quite a bit longer and wider than the plan, but it could work.

Here's another approach from forum member Megadrop. He
recycled/reused a garage door lift spring to raise/lift/control the end
hinged roof. [Most roof info on 1st page.]

I like the one end lift! And some good stuff to consider.

Mine will be a little over 4' high as I'm planning on rolling a bike inside. So I only need a couple feet of lift.

I was also thinking of having a rack on top for a canoe or inflatable, so a fixed rack with a cable and pulley on the rack allows the top to be pulled up with a boat winch on the front. Might look odd with a rack 2' above the trailer top going down the road, but many pickups have them higher than the cab too.

If I don't do a rack, I was just thinking of using a screw jack, go inside and put it in a center roof member on the ceiling and crank it up, pin the top in position and remove the jack. Certainly not as sophistacted as the solutions here, but simple enough.

But nicer solutions mentioned here, I'll reconsider, adapt and overcome! Thanks....
