Another good use for duct tape

If you've ever tried to use a can of latex paint that has been sitting for a couple of years, you know that the rim will rust up on the inside but the paint may still be good if properly stored. When you open the lid, all the loose rust falls in the paint. I used old paint a lot as a primer or first coat on some of the interior work on my TD. Here is a way to save the paint and make good use of it when you run into this problem. Line the entire rim with duct tape making sure you get it all around the inside lip to cover the rust. Then take a paper towel and dab up the little rust particles that have fallen onto the surface of the paint. Stir it up good and you have clean paint that you can use straight from the can or pour into cups or roller pan.

Thanks for the Idea. I knew somewhere there had to be a way from stopping the rust from the paint oh yea see you don't throw away either.

No, I am a pack rat. I posted in my journal some of the things I used on my TD that I had sitting around in the garage over 40 years (not paint).
