Installing Fantastic fan

I got my Fantastic fan today, and started reading the instrucrions..(Yes real men do read instructions...).

How many people use the supplied gasket and silicone to install it?
Or do you use the ....Uh, forgot what it's called..."Gucky Gray Sealing Tape" that RV stores sell?

I used what was supplied and added my own sealant to the outside edges. :) Danny

I have butyl tape under mine which is black in color..The grey Gucky stuff will work the same ..but I sure didnt receive no gasket with mine... :thinking: But it dont leak at all ...

PS John which model did you purchase?

What does the gasket look like ? Was there supposed to be one with it?

Mine looked like a piece of foam packing with precut slits and punch outs for the screw holes. Did you throw the box away? It might still be in it.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

It's a 3sp, reversable, smoked hood. Sorry for the lousy pic...cheap cam.The gasket is on top.

That white foam that's is shaped like a picture frame is the gasket. Danny ;)

...we located the FF in place and predrilled the screw holes...then removed the FF and used a heavy bead of EBS(EvilBlackStuff aka auto windshield sealant) including a dab for each of the screw holes............

How many builders just ran out to their shop to check the box that the fan came in???
I did, 'cause I didn't think I got a gasket either...

I'll skip on the gasket, besides my profile has too much curve to use it...
I guess you could call it closed cell, well except for where I pinched it with my fingers and popped severeal cells....

I'll try to come up with some EWS...

I used what was provided for gaskets, but used white polyurethene caulk under it on the outside and in all of the screw holes when I put them in.

I used my foam gasket "as is" for about 6 months then, no leaks. Then I pulled it off and used the ..."Gucky Gray Sealing Tape" that RV stores sell! A few years latter, still no leaks!!!
