:) You said drag my ball nuts

That's great. Thanks for all the opinions. I think I may try to stick with my original thought but lower that a little, maybe use 1x6 for the framing and work out something similar to nightcap's. The main thing I would like to store would be two of the accordian (sp?) type pop up tents and maybe some charcoal, stuff like that.

Once I get a good plan in my head I'll try to draw it up and post it for you guys to see.

under-floor storage with outside access from the side?

Postby OzarkWonder » Fri Dec 15, 2006 5:28 pm

I would like to make some boxes half the width of the tear with pivots in the back (trailer centerline) so I could get at the storage from the outside on the sides. I have a lot of left over aluminum I am thinking of using for this. Anybody seen anything like that?

Truck balls, I don't have those but if and when I get my diesel, I'll put some on. The wife will hate it.

War Eagle,

My tear started out 5' tall x 5W x 9L(I added a foot), but I had to cut off 3" so that I could get it into my garage. It still has enough headroom inside. If you are wondering about the shape, check out my album.

I am soo glad that I made it that tall because I can change clothes inside of it and stand up if I lean over a little.

I get dressed once a day.... I tow the trailer hours per day... yes, headroom would be nice, but I can live with it the way it is... and use an outside dressing room... paid for with gas savings...

One thing about designing your own tear or deciding which style to purchase, it is really up to the user to decide what he or she can live with or can't live without. Getting a camper that meets your needs and some of your desires is the task (dressing room or great gas mileage). Just get campin' and enjoy the great outdoors!!!
