Hurricane Hinge cutting question

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Jim, he has the hinge in the correct position...the back portion is flipped up in the pic...I made the same mistake on first look...I blamed it on hay fever meds....

Yep, the picture is correct. The reason why it won't lay flat is because that flat (where the screw holes are) that attaches to the front ot the hatch isn't notched.

I think I used a hacksaw to cut mine and dressed it with a good file.

I started with a hack saw and finished with an angle grinder. Much faster.

I don't know fellows...the back portion don't have screw holes, and it's a short leg..what he's wanting to cut looks to me like the piece that lies on top of the hatch.
but if he took a better pic, i'd feel better.

I personally think he's got it right. Here's a picture of mine.

..trust me...I'm from the govt and I am here to help :D ;) ...but seriously...that is exactly how our HH was drilled for mounting...we actually drilled some additional holes in the top flange for extra holding/mounting power....

Gee whiz!, To late! its been cut. Believe me I stared at long and hard before I cut anything. I got a friendly PM that had just about every combination of good and bad Hurricane hinge installation. I have the spars all ready to go, Need to start the frame. I have some thinned epoxy on the hatch ledge now drying, Ill take some pics with the hinge in place once dry

Jim, you damn near killed me with this one:
"STOP!!!!!..HOLD IT!!!!when I say WHOA, i mean WHOA!!! "

Thanks Again folks!
