Take it easy, Gage. :) I am new to this stuff but I’ll do fine with some help from people here. It’ll be a fun project for me. I am also motivated to take my son to Yosemite with a Teardrop this Labor Day!

I was taking it easy, and what I said stands. Enjoy your build. I know I'm going to. :o

HF frame and cheap ply from your local Home Depot. Yep, you can get her done in 3 to 4 months. If you had a name and location, you might be able to get er done quicker.

If he's got a six year old he's most likely in his early to mid 20's.
That's 20 years into computer controlled cars that you can't touch because when you try and fix 1 thing you have to remove 10 and screw up five sensors doing it. We grew up in the best of times brakes were simple, we could see the motors to work on them, Hell we rolled them out took them apart and put them back together and back in. I dare say even you would not try that today on an 07 model. My kids come to me for what I see as the simplest home repairs and I'm glad I'm there for them. I try not to laugh because I know someday the computer will catch internet syphlis and I will need there help to get it going again. We are here as a brotherhood to help each other. He may try and fail but he has had fun trying. My effort on my 5x10 ( just started) may be poorly recieved as spartan but I am utilizing scrap and crap to keep cost to a bare bones minimum. I want to see just how cheaply a person can enter into teardropping. If you got a frame and can build a box you are on your way to campin' Hope his little family has a good time building and camping. Now be nice and quit throwing rocks at the little kids !

P.S. TO UNITFIVE Go for it and show old grumpy your stuff !!!

It really is Robert L. Henry

I'm growing older but not up is a partial lyric from one of Jimmy Buffet's songs. I was simply giving credit where credit is due.

I'm a Leo , 5'10" and yes I tip the scales close to 300 Lbs. Anything else I can help ya with let me know.

Welded the frame for the 5x10 Sunday April the 1st (no Foolin')
Floors down , side profile is cut and I don't like it so I'll try again as time permits. Picked up 7 sheets of 4x10 acrylic last night for $50.00. Plan on working it into the build as siding and possibly roof material. Tell Miriam all the pictures are still in the old 35 mm but will be forthcoming. Yes I got the point that's why it's 5' wide ! 8)

The search button is way overrated:

First, you don't get to talk to real people, which is what a forum is all about in the first place. Also, new and better ideas may have been thought of since those search results.

This is a forum, not an encyclopedia, and it's the talking to each other and the support that gets us through these builds.

Well, most of us, anyway.

Great point!

In the first place, he simply mistakingly called them hubcaps, so what good would THAT search do anyway?

But Ira, it's an HF. Would you call them 'dust caps'? Na, they cover the hub, so they still must be hub caps. :?

I came back from Home Depot with a few rolls of duct tape and a few styrofoam insulation boards so I should do fine! ;) Yes, I would have an easier time understanding the controller for those sensors than replacing a break pad. Thanks to you guys, I now know what a cotter pin is and also rubbed bearing grease on my hands for the 1st time in my life. Give me another 30 years and I might just be grumpy too. :)

Cheers!

Give you another 30 years and you just might realize I'm not grumpy. Just don't beat around the bush. Up here in the high desert, there are no bushes to beat around.
