Hey Buzz,
Thanks, I got a tip earlier about using the iron on a fusible material. Could not for the life of me remember what it was called. Ah Ha, the light turns on - it's called Stitch Witchery and works pretty good. Anyhow, I got the drapes up and it's looking quite cool in the interior right now. I might have to take one of those garage naps just to check things out - don't cha know?

I don't sew........period.

Went to Kmart(they had more choices and were cheaper than Walmart or Target) and found cheap curtains. Cut them shorter and used the iron on tape to hem them. Then cut the left over into two strips to use for a tie back for each window.

So one pair worked..one single panel for each door window. This isn't the best pic put you can see through the window that the panel has been cinched with a strip halfway. Worked great and I didn't have to learn to sew.

What was nice is that the smaller front windows worked out perfect by getting a valance that was 14" long by 60" wide. Still cheap and bought two. No tape needed.........just push them aside and wala.....air and light!

Someone was smarter than us. When we bought our 14' travel trailer they had used a screen door spring top and bottom. The curtains stay where you put them and don't walk around with the breeze.

Louie Dombrowski, candy store owner, was my favorite.

Funniest thing about those movies was that they were all like in their 30s and they were still called boys. And you recognized the distinction between The Bowery Boys and The Dead End Kids.

Sewing, actually is quite a handy skill to learn ... allowing you to fabricate a lot of Things for your TD ...Custom curtains, pillows, mattress covers, Awnings ... It's real easy, and you aren't making anything complicated , like a suit... Two lessons and you'll be making all kinds of stuff...
There’s no place like Foam !

Thanks GPW, I can probably pick up a sewing machine and do it but, my past life leaves me a little cold on that subject.......... 40 years of sewing and alterations and so the story goes.

Oh yeah, Ira..... "Boys" was a term used back in those days to more or less denote the gender and not the age. The old movies and "shorts" like those are hilarious if you listen carefully to the dialogue. We think kids today talk funny - "Mugs" ain't for drinkin' beer. "I gotta a heater here" - doesn't exactly mean that the guy owned a heating appliance.

I never knew why. I also could never figure out why in one of the earlier, serious Dead End Kids films, Whitey was killed.

Yet they resurrected him for The Bowery Boys.

Here's a cool link--then a question for you:

http://boweryboys.bobfinnan.com/

I'm having a brain fart, but remember whenever they were in a tough situation and were about to start a fight with the bad guys, Mugsy would always yell at something with a number?

Was it " "Routine" 36? Can't remember for sure.

And here's a cool piece of trivia for you:

Monogram Pictures, which did all of those cheesy movies and serials, was just a money laundering operation for the mob. They didn't care if those films made any money or not.
