How to do a trolley top...at least this is how I did it....

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Looks great Doug  . I bet if you were to do an exact copy of that roof on another tear you could skip a couple of steps with built up sub-assemblies. It's getting the pattern on that first one that can be a little daunting. Way to go Doug :applause: Danny

the government does not produce one single bushel of corn, one single barrel of oil, or one unit of any other commodity. the only way it obtains the money that it awards to its chosen recipients is by taking it from others who earned it. this is called "voluntary taxation".

Rail Buff dream come true

Postby ArtMini » Wed Jul 30, 2008 1:38 am

As a rail buff I gotta say i love your design. I told my dad, who has been a rail buff for the past 40 years i want to build a replica of an old "Type 5" car which has that type of roof, these cars ran during the 40's and 50's. He has several books filled with pics I could use as design ideas. God my GF's gonna kill me when she hears me talking about a second tear when the first isn't even done LOL

Well done Doug!
Has this TD been finished?

If only i had the space to build a TD myself...

Mini....I used a thickened epoxy for a fillet, and lots of elbow grease!

Pretty amazing Doug. The only thing i don't like about it is... I don't own it! LOL

If you ever get an urge to build another one, just gimme a call. Any possibility of a TD building "apprenticeship"? Alway intererested in a hands on course. ;)

Bump...I had a couple ask about how to do this. Don't know if I have any pics on the computer on the fillet of the trolley top sides to the roof. I'll have to look around. Doug
