If you take your wood, overlap them just a little bit at the joint,making sure they are lined up and clamped, then take your router with any flush cut bit and cut through both pieces at the same time , now you have ends that are mirror images :applause:

I used maple strips to cover the seam as well as the staples I used to hold the ceiling to the spars.

How did you attach the maple strips to the ceiling? More nail, or screws? or just glue?

I used finish nails and filled the holes before applying the finish. I think I would use a Doug Hodder trick and use screws with finish washer if I were to do it again.

cut into the seam to make it look like a large puzzle piece and make it an intentional seam.
