After having cold walls below freezing with 3/4 insul, this time I went with 1.5".

The doors have a more solid feel to them, as I suspect the whole tear will. Don't know how much difference it will make. Will report back after I do some winter camping. But the weight penalty is only is using wider studs and rafters, probably 25# or so...

And foam doesn't really have that high an R value... The R value per inch of pink foam is 5... so I went from about 4 to 8, which should be a noticeable improvement.

But, foam can also become a structural part of the tear, improving it's rigidity, especially if you spread some glue on both sides the foam during installation.

And, it helps keep campground noise out when I try to sleep till about 8.30... I always sleep a couple of hour more per night when camping.. have not figured that part out yet, but it is pretty consistent.
