How do you determine the maximum height you can build your camper? I would assume it has to do with the width and strength of the frame but is there a formula or something to use? Or are there standard maximum heights for trailer widths?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WindyLou,

Maximum legal height for a trailer is 13 1/2 feet. :D

Other height considerations....

Teardrop trailer, be able to sit up in bed

Stand up trailer, be able to stand up

Built in the garage trailer, be able to get it out of the garage when finished

Personal considerations, wish I'd built my Teardrop walls a few inches shorter, will build the next one shorter.

Ride height is also a consideration for total height. trailer needs to run level when being towed. Drop axles, drop hitches (even upside down) can help with towing level.
