Like so many others , just thinking out loud....

One of those fiberglass hard top pickup bed covers would make an excellent roof panel for this application. They are designed to fit a hole approx 4x6 or 4x8 and have a lip over for water diversion. I have not inspected one up close but I bet there is a weather seal system and some how somewhere there would be a way to attach your canvas sidepanels
Growing older but not up !

My son has a Westy and I must say that it is a great idea!

Go and check how the Westies are made and take a LOT of photos. The engineers in Germany did a great job. You can also get ideas from the website samba.com. Look at the later models Westies.

Elsewhere on the web are also schematic plans for attaching the tent to the camper. Again: good ideas.

Just: their hardware are very expensive and getting very old. I find that the trunk hinges from Plymouth Breezes are great for this kind of application. (Got mine for $5.00 each in the local scrap yard). For the front, lifting strut one can easily rework the lift strut from a Silverado's hood liftstrut.

HEY! That's a good idea! I was thinking about making one out of wood. I bet the truck bed cover thing would be great! And i bet you could cut into one of those to put in a vent or a window.
